First off I'll start with my Superstar Face paints which I bought from The Face Painting Shop.
I first heard of these from well known MUA Karla Powell. I only started following her a couple of months ago but I've completely fallen in love. She's helped me massively when it comes to amazing but inexpensive makeup items I can add to my kit.
I made my order Tuesday morning and it arrived the next afternoon. Excellent service! The items came in a nice sturdy box and were well packaged. As I've previously used Snazaroo face paints I expected these to be the same size but they came in much smaller pots. I was a little disappointed but just figured they were maybe much better quality so less product would be used.
I only bought a couple as I already have a few basic Snazaroo colours and as I don't do much face painting I didn't want to go too mad. The pink pot you can see is actually Grimas face paint. I ordered this as the pink I wanted in Superstar had sold out. I had a little practise face painting on my mum today so I'll post a blog later about the paints in more detail.
Along with the face paints I bought some pots of Superstar Glitter gel. I already had a pot of Silver Snazaroo glitter gel and just fancied a few other colours. The pots were actually pretty big. Not bad for only £2.99 an they come in some amazing colours!
Along with my face paints I ordered this Mehron Smootie Sponge. I'd never heard of the beauty blender but I'd seen and been recommended the face blender sponge from Crown Brush. I decided to get this as it was much cheaper and was Latex free. Something I thought was important to have in my kit. I looked up reviews for it and it was recommended over the beauty blender. It's a lot smaller than I imagined but good for applying makeup to the small areas of the face like the side of the nose. It can be used for both face paints and foundation giving a nice even airbrushed effect. I'm yet to use mine so I'll review it a little later on.
I also ordered Snazaroo cake blood. I've been wanting this for a while now so thought this was the best opportunity to buy it. I've already got Snazaroo fake blood and some of the Snazaroo special fx wax. I've been wanting to try out some of the little special fx ideas that came in my leaflet so it's great to finally have all the things I need.
Next up is my order from Crown Brush UK. I had a few problems with this order as I paid through paypal but my order was not sent. I called them up and was told they could see my payment but no order was received. They refunded me my money which I was told I would receive immediately and made my order again with my card. It wasn't until Friday when I checked my bank account I realised both payments had come out. I called Crown Brush who said the refund was OK and was with paypal. I then rang paypal to see what the hold up was.
They informed me it would take up to 5-7 working days to be refunded and there was nothing they could do. I then rang the bank up to see what they suggested and I was eventually refunded my money, but I was £20 down on my phone bill.
When I received my order one of my makeup brushes were missing, I emailed the company and as it's the weekend I'm yet to hear back.
I was really excited to find Crown Brush. I'd heard such good things about them and the brushes and makeup were such good value for money. But after all this I'm a little reluctant to use them again.
Here are the brushes I did receive...
The brushes are lovely and soft and I'm really excited to use them. The only one I'm abit unsure about is the eyebrow brush. It feels really stiff which I guess is good for creating perfect brows but I prefer to use something a little softer myself. I'll probably give it a go at some point. I bought it for £1 in the sale though so It's not much of a loss if I don't.
Next up were my blush and concealer palettes. Both under £20 and had a good range of colours.
First up the blush palette. There's two matte colours which are on both ends of the top row and all the rest are shimmery. I'm not really much of a fan of shimmery blushes myself and would have preferred matte colours in my kit so I was little disappointed by this. I tried the matte pink on myself and found it really difficult to get the product onto my brush. Eventually I gave up and went for the light shimmery pink next to it which went on much easier. I'll do some swatches of all these products a little later.
My concealer palette. A lovely range of colours for all skin tones, nice creamy texture and very easy to apply. I applied abit using a brush to my dark circles and it really brightened up my under eye area. Easily worth their money and brilliant for a start up kit.
Another order I made was with Team Pixie. I was a little unsure about this order as I'd never heard of them before but I'd really got my heart set on some Kryolan lip palettes and these were the only place online in the UK I could find some. Very well priced too!
Here are my lip palettes. Again, these were alot smaller than I imagined. I really need to start looking this stuff up.
First up is palette LC. A good mixture of on trend colours in matt shades, a nice creamy consistency and from the little finger test I did, good pigmentation. As the pans with each shade are so small I think I'd only get a few applications out of each so I'm probably going to save these for best. I also got palette LP which are more shimmery shades. You'll have to excuse my camera for the last two pictures as the flash wouldn't work but I'll be doing a swatch of them all later.
Along with my lip palettes I ordered Mehron ProColoRing neutraliser wheel. I really wanted one in my kit as I suffer from dark circles and the occasional spot myself and know how hard these are to cover. The concealers were lovely, smooth and creamy and so easy to apply. When applied it looked rather greasy on my skin but with my concealer over the top it completely sorted out any greasiness. Definitely something I would recommend and for only £11.50 I thought it was an absolute bargain.
